MINSK, 28 December (BelTA) – School and university students presented New Year handmade souvenirs to Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on behalf of all the children of the country. The gifts were presented to the head of state during a New Year charity event held in the Palace of the Republic on 28 December as part of the Our Children charity campaign, BelTA has learned.
One of the gifts is a panel picture made of birch bark. It depicts children playing ice hockey, skating, skiing, sledging, throwing snowballs, and making a snowman. The panel picture is made of thin split birch bark with an addition of volumetric bark. It was made by students from Zhlobin, Gomel Oblast.
Another noteworthy gift is an art object in the steampunk style. It is a New Year tree, which looks like a half crescent made of wood and leather. It is embellished with clock parts, metal lightning bolts, and shaped tinted glass. The tree is decorated with a colorful LED light band and a dog figure as a symbol of the year 2018. The New Year tree was made by students from Lida, Grodno Oblast.
