MINSK, 13 November (BelTA) – The twelfth edition of the International Student Theater Festival Teatralny Koufar will bring together best student theaters from twelve countries, BelTA learned from the press service of Belarusian State University (BSU), the organizer of the festival.
The forum will run from 30 November through 5 December in Minsk. Partaking in this year’s festival will be theater troupes from Belarus, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Georgia, Iran, Spain, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, and Estonia.
“The program of Teatralny Koufar 2015 is varied and extensive. It includes productions based on works by Belarusian writers, such as Vasil Bykau, Maksim Bahdanovich, and others. Belarusian theatergoers will also be offered experimental productions of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Nikolai Gogol’s Viy, and Joseph Brodsky’s Democracy. The program of the festival also features workshops, an open debating event, and the projects Кufar-in-Motion and KufarDramaLab. The latter will bring together participants from different countries who will stage a theatrical performance that will be presented only once,” the organizers explained.
The program of the international festival includes the cross-disciplinary project Kufar_Plastilin that will showcase photos, videos, paintings, and works of installation art.
The Grand-Prix of the festival, the Big Koufar, will be traditionally awarded according to the audience voting.
