State Chamber Orchestra of Belarus to take part in Worthersee Classics Festival in Austria

MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) – The State Chamber Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus under the direction of Evgeny Bushkov will make their first appearance at the Worthersee Classics Festival in Austria, BelTA learned from the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society.

The Belarusian orchestra will give a concert on the Brahms Day.

It is noteworthy that the orchestra will participate in this prestigious forum under its own name, not as part of other orchestras. The participation of the State Chamber Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus in this festival has received the support of the Belarusian Embassy in Austria. "We discussed the program with the festival management. We sent a recording of our concert of the Quartet of Beethoven/Mahler for String Orchestra. They loved it and invited us to the festival,” said Evgeny Bushkov, the arts director and chief conductor of the State Chamber Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus.

The State Chamber Orchestra of Belarus will perform Brahms's String Quintet in G major for String Orchestra. The program will begin with the Violin Concerto in C major by Joseph Haydn performed by Elena Denisova as a soloist in what will be her first appearance with this orchestra. The orchestra is preparing some other surprises: in particular they will play a piece which symbolizes the Austrian-Belarusian musical relationship based on two Belarusian folk songs.

The philosophy of the Worthersee Classics Festival is simple: Five world-famous composers, who grew up during the latter years of the Austrian empire, lived and worked at some point on beautiful Lake Worthersee: Gustav Mahler, Alban Berg and Anton von Webern from Vienna, Johannes Brahms from Hamburg, and Hugo Wolf. The idea was to connect these five exceptional composers to one great festival.

The festival in Carinthia runs from 10 to 13 June.
