MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) – World No. 142 Arina Sobolenko of Belarus got off to a good start at the Shenzhen Open in China beating Jing Lu of China (World No.226) 7-5, 6-2 in the opener, BelTA has learned.
Vera Lapko of Belarus, ranked 293rd in the world, completed her qualifying run with seeing off Kyoka Okamura of Japan (261) 6-0, 6-0. Vera Lapko will face World No.307 Jessica Pieri of Italy in the first round of the main draw.
Lidia Morozova of Belarus and Dutch Lesley Kerkhove will open the women’s doubles event against the British-Japanese duet of Emily Webley-Smith and Kotomi Takahata.
The tournament will be over on 19 March.
