MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) – Over 60 projects are to be presented at the Smart Patent fair of innovative ideas that is to take place in Minsk on 4-5 December, Chairman of the Economy Committee of the Minsk City Council Vladimir Naumovich told reporters on 21 November, BelTA has learned.
The exposition will be located in the Palace of Arts on Kozlova Street. It will introduce visitors to new solutions across a variety of fields: medicine, manufacturing technology, chemistry and Earth science, energy, information technology and biotechnology. The program of the forum also includes seminars, presentations and a contest of startups.
The fair will be held for the eighth time. It will give investors an excellent opportunity to meet fledgling entrepreneurs and their projects. It will bring together representatives of the leading research laboratories, investment and innovation funds, technology transfer centers and foreign technology parks interested in forging partner contacts and promoting tech projects and innovative products.
“We have received over 600 applications; about 85% of selected projects deal with innovations. Technologies get outdated fast; therefore, to get ahead of the curve companies and countries need to identify and introduce promising technology as fast as possible,” Vladimir Naumovich said.
The most interesting ideas to be featured at the fair include an autonomous public lighting system running on solar and wind energy. It can be used in the places where electrical wiring installation does not make economic sense. Other interesting solutions include an AR board game and a Turbosphere project based on transformation of excessive natural gas pressure into additional energy.
Investors might as well get interested in a professional spaceflight simulator; visitors will be able to test it at the fair. The University of Civil Protection of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry will show an explosion localization device. The device can be broadly used during mass events.
The Institute of Inclusive Education of Belarusian State Pedagogical University and the National Art Museum have come up with a sophisticated technology to educate people with hearing impairments about art. Other social projects include a Dobrodel workshop that is designed to create jobs for people with special needs. Apart from Belarusian companies, the fair will feature participants from Russia and Ukraine that will bring projects in alternative energy and treatment of effluent discharged by woodworking companies.
The fair is hailed as the country’s biggest forum for fledgling scientists. School and university students as well as young scientists will deliver 485 reports during sections. There will be interactive venues for students where they will be able to learn more about latest research projects and experiments. There will also be a science museum and a school of robotics. An extensive educational block of the fair will be dedicated to state support. The business part features seminars on financial literacy, labor relations and taxation in information technology, an algorithm of joining the Hi-Tech Park, digital economy basics, etc.
The event is organized by the Minsk City Council, Minsk City Technopark, Intelligence Laboratory, and Youth Innovation Center with support of the Education Ministry, Healthcare Ministry and the National Academy of Sciences.
In 2017 the fair presented 50 projects and 27 startups in various fields. That year the organizers received over 100 applications.
