MINSK, 3 January (BelTA) - Slovakia defeated Switzerland 10:4 in the opening game of the 15th Christmas international amateur ice hockey tournament for the prize of the President of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

The Group C match was held on the small ice rink of Chizhovka Arena. Switzerland, that is taking part in the tournament for the 13th time, was in the lead 2:0 during the first period. The first goal of the Christmas tournament 2019 was scored by Prius Weber. However, Switzerland lost the advantage and conceded six goals in the second period.

The next match in Group C is scheduled for 4 January. Team Russia represented by the Stroigazmontazh team will play Switzerland.

The match between UAE Team and Balkans is on the daytime schedule (big ice rink of Chizhovka Arena).

The evening program of the Christmas tournament features two more matches. After the opening ceremony Germany will take on Finland (small ice rink at 18.30) and Belarus will play IIHF Team (big ice rink).
