The 27th edition of the International Festival of Arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk is scheduled to take place on 12-16 July, however, a series of events will be held in Marc Chagall’s hometown before and after this period, namely on 7-11 July and 17-18 July.
The organizers believe that this time the festival will be even bigger than last year’s. The Summer Amphitheater alone will be the venue for 19 concerts, while other venues will host 2-3 events every day.
The most anticipated events of the festival are, as usual, international song contests. Young hopefuls will be the first to come on stage. The results of the junior song contest will be announced as early as on 12 July. The Grand Prix is expected to be handed over by the president during the opening ceremony.
The major theme of the festival is native land. This theme will define the concept of the opening and closing ceremonies, video contents and performances of artists. Apart from that, this year the Slavianski Bazaar festival will mark two important dates – the 80th anniversary of People’s Artist of Belarus, composer Igor Luchenok and the 30th anniversary of the Summer Amphitheater.
There will be an abundance of orchestra performances this year. Taking the stage will be Emir Kusturica & The No Smoking Orchestra and Goran Bregovic and his Wedding and Funeral Orchestra, Phonograf-Sympho-Jazz (Day of the Union State concert), State Orchestra conducted by Mikhail Finberg, Orchestra conducted by Svetlana Bezrodnaya, and Oleg Menshikov’s Dream Orchestra. The program provides for a lot of street events, including with the participation of visiting orchestras and musicians.
The program features a great number of famous performers, exclusive projects and surprise events. The full program is available on the official website of the Slavianski Bazaar festival.
