MOSCOW, 3 April (BelTA) – The junior and senior song contests of the Slavianski Bazaar festival have received applications from Guinea, Vietnam and Egypt for the first time ever, festival director Alexander Sidorenko told a press conference in Moscow on 3 April, BelTA informs.
The first applications for the international children’s song contest have been sent from the UK, Canada, and Colombia.
These two competitions are the main events of the festival, Alexander Sidorenko pointed out. To date, some 30 applications have been selected for each of them. These applications are considered by a special group of experts who are to select 21 participants for each of the contests. “The names of the contestants will be announced next week,” the festival director added.
In his words, the level of competitors grows every year as some 90% of them go through national selections in their countries prior to the Vitebsk event. For instance, this year national selections for Slavianski Bazaar took place in Germany, Armenia, and Poland.
“I believe this year we will get to know some news names and see new performers,” Alexander Sidorenko summarized.
The 27th installment of the international festival of arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk will take place from 12 to 16 July. The additional events are scheduled for 7-11 July and 17-18 July.
