MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) – The women’s mass start of the Champions Race 2016 in Tyumen was won by Italy’s Dorothea Wierer who clocked 15:23.8 with one penalty. Second came in Italy’s Karin Oberhofer, 7.2 seconds back, with two penalties. Third was Norway’s Tiril Eckhoff, 15.4 behind the winner, with four penalties. Belarus’ Nadezhda Skardino finished 8th (37.0 back, three penalties) among ten participants. Winner of the IBU World Cup standings Gabriela Soukalova placed 10th.
In the men’s mass start, clean-shooting Anton Shipulin of Russia celebrated the victory in 13:48.4. Second came in Germany’s Simon Schempp (3.9 seconds back, one penalty). Third was winner of the five previous IBU seasons Martin Fourcade of France (5.1 seconds back, three penalties). Ole Einar Bjorndalen of Norway finished 9th (42.8 seconds back, four penalties) ahead of Michal Slesingr of the Czech Republic.
Last year partaking in the Champions Race in Tyumen were two Belarusian athletes: Darya Domracheva who won the women’s mass start and Nadezhda Skardino.
