Sidorenko becomes President of World Association of Festivals

VITEBSK, 8 July (BelTA) – Director of the international festivals of arts Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk Alexander Sidorenko has become President of the World Association of Festivals (WAF). The decision was announced at the international conference Festival Movement. Traditions and Innovations which has brought together organizers of festivals from various countries. They have already taken part in the session of the Council of Associations in Vitebsk, BelTA has learned.

At the beginning of the conference former president of the association Marjan Kataroski (Macedonia) said that the forum in Vitebsk has been the uniting power for the peoples of various countries for many years. “This year Slavonic Bazaar became a member of the World Association of Festivals, and I want to present the membership certificate to the director. I would like to say that Alexander Sidorenko will be the new WAF president,” Marjan Kataroski said.

Sidorenko becomes President of World Association of FestivalsAlexander Sidorenko, in turn, thanked his predecessor for initiatives and productive work for the benefit of the festival movement. Addressing those present at the meeting, he stressed that “we are united not only by the association, but also by more important things, namely common topics, interests, development prospects. We need to discuss and do a lot.”

The international conference Festival Movement. Traditions and Innovations takes place in Vitebsk for the first time as part of the 24th international festivals of arts Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk. Partaking in the event are representatives of Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Israel, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Macedonia, etc.
