MINSK, 7 July (BelTA) – Belarusian shot putter Aliaksei Aleksandrovich has won a gold medal at the 2018 European Athletics Youth Championships in Gyor, Hungary, BelTA has learned.

In the last effort of the competition he sent his shot out to 20.97m. Italy’s Carmelo Musci came second with 20.37m. Piotr Gozdziewicz from Poland clinched bronze (18.88m).

Aliaksei Aleksandrovich broke his own record and achieved the best result of the season in the U18 category.

The gold medal of Aliaksei Aleksandrovich was second in the medal score of the Belarusian team. The first gold medal went to Hanna Zubkova who was unmatched in the girls’ 5000m race walk.
