MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – Belarus won seven medals at the 2016 BSB Bank Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup which took place in Minsk Falcon Club, BelTA has learned.
On the final day of the tournament leader of the Belarusian national team Melitina Staniouta graced the podium three times. She clinched silver with the Hoop (18,700 points) and bronze with the Ball (18,700 points). The Belarusian scored 18,650 points to claim another bronze with the Clubs. Melitina Staniouta finished fifth with the Ribbon, giving way to Yekaterina Galkina of Belarus who placed fourth.
On 21 May Melitina Staniouta collected bronze in the All-Around Individual.
Margarita Mamun of Russia celebrated victories in all the routines, earning the highest 19,000 points with the Hoop, 19,150 points with the Ball, 19,100 points with the Clubs, and 18,950 points with the Ribbon.
In the Five Ribbons group events the Belarusian team of Ksenia Cheldyshkina, Anna Dudenkova, Maria, Kadobina, Maria Kotyak, Valeria Pishchelina and Arina Tsitsilina finished second with 17,950 points. Gold went to Russia (18,150 points), with bronze taken by Israel (17,750 points).
Belarusians won the Two Hoops and Six Clubs event earning the highest 18,550 points. Italy took silver (18,050), and Israel collected bronze (18,000).
The Belarusian team also claimed gold in the All-Around Group event.
The 2016 BSB Bank Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Belarus was an important stage of preparations for the Belarusian national team in the run-up to the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Holon, Israel slated for 17-19 June and the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The next FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup will take place in Sofia on 25-30 May.
