MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) - The second summer leg of the Commonwealth Biathlon Cup starts at the National Winter Olympic Training Center Raubichi on 15 September, BelTA has learned.
The opening ceremony with the participation of the best biathletes of Belarus and Russia will be held at 10.30. It will be followed by the women’s sprint 7.5km and men’s sprint 10km. Both pursuit races are scheduled for 17 September. The event will end on Sunday with two mass starts.
More than 50 biathletes will compete in Raubichi, including the leaders of the Belarusian team Anton Smolski and Dzinara Alimbekava, and also Beijing Olympic medalists from Russia Eduard Latypov, Karim Khalili, Irina Kazakevich, Svetlana Mironova and others.
Belarus’ national team won three medals at the first leg of the Commonwealth Cup, which was held in Sochi in August. Dzinara Alimbekava won the sprint and pursuit races, and Anton Smolski placed second in the mass start. The third leg of the Commonwealth Cup (the first on snow) will be held in Russia’s Ryazan Oblast at the end of December. In early 2023 the athletes will return to Belarus as Raubichi will host two legs in a row from 17 to 22 January and from 23 to 30 January. The Commonwealth Cup will wrap up in Tyumen at the end of March.
