MINSK, 1 April (BelTA) - Daniil Sharoykin, an eleventh-grader of secondary school No.18 in Mogilev, won the gold medal at the International Festival of Engineering Sciences and Technology I-FEST 2019 which was held in Monastir, Tunisia, from 21 to 29 March, BelTA has learned.
Belarus took part in the festival for the first time. Daniil Sharoykin presented the water quality cintrik equipment he designed himself (Environment category). The international jury highly appreciated the level of his training and praised the systemic and purposeful work of the Mogilev school. Daniil was awarded the gold medal and the winner certificate of the competition. Chemistry and biology teacher Yekaterina Kapralova, who trained him, was given a letter of commendation from the festival organizers.
I-FEST, organized by ATAST (the Tunisian Association for the future of Science and Technology) is the largest international festival in the field of scientific and engineering research on the African continent.
Some 1,200 high school and university students aged between 14-24 from 40 countries took part in the qualifying round with 150 scientific projects making it to the final. The festival included such categories as physical science, engineering, environment, computer science, life and biology, social sciences, multimedia, short film and business.
