Sasnovich, Ivashka into third round of Wimbledon 2021

MINSK, 2 July (BelTA) – Aliaksandra Sasnovich and Ilya Ivashka of Belarus have advanced to the third round of Wimbledon 2021, BelTA has learned.

In the second-round match World No. 100 Aliaksandra Sasnovich outpowered WTA No. 85 Nao Hibino of Japan 6-4, 7-6. The Belarusian will next face World. No. 28 Angelique Kerber of Germany.

Ilya Ivashka beat Jeremy Chardy of France 4-6 6-3 6-2 6-4. He now faces Australian Jordan Thompson who defeated Japan’s Kei Nishikori 7-5 6-4 5-7 6-3.

Unfortunately, another Belarusian, WTA No. 14 Victoria Azarenka lost to Sorana Cirstea of Romania 6-7(5), 6-3, 4-6.
