MINSK, 22 July (BelTA) – Belarus’ tennis players Olga Govortsova and Aliaksandra Sasnovich reached the Gdynia Open doubles quarterfinal after seeing off German-Slovak tandem Tamara Korpatsch and Tereza Mihalikova 6-3, 5-7, 10-8 in almost two hours, BelTA has learned.
In the quarterfinal the Belarusian players will take on Georgian duo Ekaterine Gorgodze and Oksana Kalashnikova.
On 21 July, Belarus-Kazakhstan duo Lidziya Marozava and Anna Danilina solved Polish-Russian tandem Weronika Baszak and Varvara Flink 6-1, 2-6, 10-7. In the quarterfinal they will play Irina Bara of Romania and Varvara Lepchenko of the United States.
Belarus’ world number 87 Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus went off to a good start in the Gdynia Open singles event seeing off Poland’s world number 1199 Weronika Baszak 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 in an hour and 45 minutes. The Belarusian will take on Ukraine’s world number 141 Kateryna Kozlova for a spot in the quarterfinal. Belarus’ world number 126 Olga Govortsova lost to world number 162 Tamara Korpatsch of Germany, 6-1, 5-7, 5-7, in the Gdynia Open round of Last 32.
The tournament in Gdynia will be over on 25 July.
