MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 2 Aryna Sabalenka delivered an imperious performance to dismiss world number 27 Magdalena Frech of Poland, 6-2, 6-2, to move in the Wuhan Open 2024 semifinal.
The Belarusian will next face World No.4 Coco Gauff of the United States.
In the Round of 32 the Belarusian saw off Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic, 6-4, 6-4, and then defeated Kazakhstan’s world number 35 Yulia Putintseva 1-6, 6-4, 6-0.
Aryna Sabalenka is the two-time defending champion, winning the event in 2018 and 2019.
The ongoing edition will be over on 13 October. The winner will earn 1,000 points and $525,100.
