MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) - Aryna Sabalenka was named the WTA Breakthrough of the Month in August, BelTA has learned.

During a fan vote the Belarusian beat Latvia’s Anastasija Sevastova and Ukraine’s Lesia Tsurenko.

Last month Aryna Sabalenka won Connecticut Open in New Haven, beating the top ten ranking and reached the 1/8 finals of the US Open Tennis Championship having lost to Japan’s Naomi Osaka, whose sensational victory at the US Open made her WTA player of the Month.

Aryna Sabalenka is currently 20th in the WTA ranking.
