MINSK, 28 September (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 20 Aryna Sabalenka has made the 2018 Wuhan Open final in China, BelTA has learned.
In today’s semifinal the Belarusian saw off Australia’s world number 17 Ashleigh Barty 7-6 (7-2), 6-4.
Aryna Sabalenka will face World No.27 Anett Kontaveit of Estonia in the final.
On the way to the final Aryna Sabalenka beat Spain’s world number 22 Carla Suarez Navarro 7-6, 2-6, 6-2, World No.6 Elina Svitolina of Ukraine 6-4, 2-6, 6-1, U.S. world number 62 Sofia Kenin 6-3, 6-3, and Slovakia’s Dominika Cibulkova, the world number 31, 7-5, 6-3.
In the women’s doubles semifinal Belarus’ Lidziya Marozava and Japan’s Shuko Aoyama lost 6-4, 2-6, 3-10 to Belgian-Dutch duet of Elise Mertens and Demi Schuurs.
In the men’s doubles event at the 2018 Shenzhen Open Belarus’ Max Mirnyi and Philipp Oswald of Austria lost 6-7, 3-6 to the American-Swedish tandem of Rajeev Ram and Robert Lindstedt.
