MINSK, 4 February (BelTA) – Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus has moved up one spot in the updated WTA rankings to advance to WTA No.9 for the first time in her career, BelTA has learned.
A week ago, Belarus’ best tennis player made it to the top 10 of the global ranking. After she reached St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy semifinal, she moved up one spot.
The WTA Top 100 includes 3 more Belarusian players: Aliaksandra Sasnovich (33rd, 1520 points), Victoria Azarenka (48th, 1117 points), Vera Lapko (60th, 896 points).
The Belarusian team will next face Germany in the Fed Cup World Cup first-round tie in Braunschweig on 9-10 February.
