MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) - Russian filmmaker Vadim Abdrashitov will chair the jury of the competition program of the 22^nd Minsk International Film Festival Listapad, BelTA learnt from the organizing committee of the festival.

The international panel of judges will include five cinematography specialists. The competition program will comprise 12 films. The main venue of the festival will be the Tsentralny Cinema House.

Vadim Abdrashitov is not a new face to the Listapad Film Festival. In 1995 his Play for A Passenger got an award from the Listapad Film Festival jury. Two years later his The Dancer’s Time took part in the competition program of the festival. In 2004 the Russian filmmaker chaired at the Listapad Film Festival panel of judges.

Vadim Abdrashitov was born in Kharkov on 19 January 1945. He graduated from the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography. He is internationally renowned, with awards from the Berlin and Venice Film Festivals. He is best known for his films Ostanovite Potapova!, A Turn, Fox Hunting, The Servant, Armavir, A Play for A Passenger, The Dancer’s Time and many others. He created another 11 great works in collaboration with script writer Alexander Mindadze. Their films were awarded at many international film festivals as well as at the Soviet and Russian film forums.

The 22^nd Minsk International Film Festival Listapad will take place on 6-13 November. The forum is organized by the center of visual and performing arts ART Corporation. It was founded by the Belarusian Culture Ministry and the Minsk City Hall with the participation of the Belarusian TV and Radio Company, the national film studio Belarusfilm, and the Belarusian Union of Cinematographers.
