MINSK, 8 June (BelTA) – Russian Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky suggests shooting two Belarusian-Russian films. He made the statement at the plenary meeting of the 3rd Belarus-Russia Forum of Regions on 8 June, BelTA has learned.
“We need to develop as many joint projects as possible. We have a great successful project: the film Brest Fortress. I would like to suggest two projects. They have almost been developed and can unite our cinematographers,” he stressed.
The Russian Culture Minister explained that the first project is the film entitled Gromyko. “It is hard to find a figure more significant and influential in the history of world diplomacy. There is a script, but it needs finalizing. It will be an example of how the policy was worked out to overcome the crisis,” he explained.
According to Vladimir Medinsky, the second project is the film named Sobibor. Its script is ready, too. “At the border of Belarus and Poland there was a little-known extermination camp where the Nazis burnt several hundreds of thousands of people. It was the place where a group of Soviet war prisoners produced a mass breakout of the camp, the only one in the history of the Second World War,” he said. The minister stressed that a brilliant script had been developed and a whole city for the film shooting was built in Belarus jointly with the Belarusfilm Studio.
The Russian Culture Minister stated that Belarus and Russia plan to hold a joint circus festival next year.
