MINSK, 17 January (BelTA) – The fourth and fifth legs of the international biathlon competitions PARI Commonwealth Cup will take place in the Raubichi Olympic Training Center on 19-29 January 2023, BelTA has learned.
The third leg was held in the Ryazan biathlon center Almaz in December 2022. The Commonwealth Cup will complete with the final leg in the Pearl of Siberia sports center in Tyumen Oblast, Russia on 7-13 March 2023.
According to the organizers, the competition program of the fourth leg in Raubichi will include women’s sprint (19 January), men’s sprint (20 January), women’s and men’s pursuits (21 January), women’s mass start, Champions’ Race, men’s mass start (22 January).
The fifth leg in Raubichi will feature men’s sprint (26 January), women’s sprint (27 January), men’s and women’s pursuits (28 January), men’s and women’s mass starts (29 January).
Competing in Raubichi will be over 60 best Belarusian and Russian athletes, including winners and medalists of the Olympic Games, world championships and other big international competitions.
Belarus’ Anton Smolski goes first in the men’s PARI Commonwealth Cup total score. Russia’s Natalya Gerbulova tops the women’s overall, with Belarus’ Dzinara Alimbekava in the second position.
According to the organizers, the Champions Race, which is scheduled for 22 January, will feature retired biathletes: champions and medalists of the Olympic Games, world and European championships.
Each team in the Champions Race will comprise two athletes, one woman and one man. The teams will be decided by a draw. The format of the Champions Race will be a single mixed relay.
Belarus will field:
Sergey Novikov, an Olympic silver medalist, a medalist of world championships, a two-time European champion;
Oleg Ryzhenkov, a many-time champion and medalist of world and European championships;
Alexandr Syman, a world medalist, two-time European champion, two-time summer biathlon world champion;
Vadim Sashurin, a many-time champion and medalist of world and European championships;
Pyotr Ivashka, a many-time world champion;
Olena Zubrilova, a many-time champion and medalist of world and European championships;
Olga Nazarova, a medalist of world championships, winner and medalist of European championships, many-time world summer biathlon champion;
Liudmila Kalinchik, a medalist of world championships;
Natalia Ryzhenkova, a champion and medalist of world championships.
Russia will be represented by:
Viktor Maigourov, a two-time Olympci medalist, three-time world champion and many-time medalist of world championships;
Pavel Rostovtsev, an Olympic medalist, many-time winner and medalist of world championships, European champion;
Sergey Bashkirov, a World Cup winner;
Ekaterina Shumilova, a winner and medalist of European championships, World Cup winner;
Ekaterina Yurlova-Percht, a winner and medalist of world and European championships;
Natalia Sorokina, a medalist of world championships, World Cup winner and medalist;
Olga Podchufarova, a world bronze medalist, World Cup winner and medalist.
