MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) - The 29th edition of the Minsk International Book Fair under the motto “River of Time of the Fatherland" has opened in Minsk at the BelExpo exhibition center, BelTA has learned.
"Due to the pandemic book fairs have been put on hold in many countries. The pandemic is still ongoing creating certain logistical difficulties,” Belarusian Information Minister Vladimir Pertsov said. "But, as we can see, the book fair draws a great interest, primarily among people who love books, who are looking for books.”
Last year Belarus published a record number of books, almost 22 million copies, the minister said.
"People need books and exhibitions that showcase publishers, including those from abroad. Today the Minsk book fair is showcasing 222 exhibits from 12 foreign countries. They have brought completely different books. Here they can find their readers while readers - their books," Vladimir Pertsov said.
