MINSK, 9 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian Information Ministry has plans to present Svetlana Alexievich’s books from the holdings of the National Book Chamber of Belarus at the 68th Frankfurt Book Fair to be held on 14 to 18 October, BelTA learned from the ministry.
“Svetlana Alexievich’s books are available in the network of bookstores of the Information Ministry. Representatives of OAO Belkniga said that the news that Svetlana Alexievich got the 2015 Nobel Prize in Literature did not catch them unprepared. Svetlana Alexievich’s “The War's Unwomanly Face,” “Last Witnesses,” “Zinky Boys,” “Enchanted with Death,” “The Chernobyl Prayer,” “Second-hand Time” are available at the bookstores of Minsk and regional cities and towns,” the ministry noted.
The Information Ministry also congratulated Svetlana Alexievich on the award and wished her health and every success.
The ministry also noted that Svetlana Alexievich is a frequent guest at the annual Minsk International Book Fair organized under the aegis of the Belarusian Information Ministry. “At the invitation of OAO Belkniga, the writer presented her new book “Second-hand Time” during the international fair in 2014. In 2015, Svetlana Alexievich also met with her readers and held a presentation of her books as part of the fair,” the ministry said.
In 1985-2000, Svetlana Alexievich’s books were published by Mastatskaya Litaratura, Yunatstva, Belarus, and other Belarusian publishing houses.
