MINSK, 11 April (BelTA) – About 100 samples of weapons and hardware will be presented for the first time ever at the 9th international arms and military hardware expo MILEX 2019 in Minsk on 15-18 May, representatives of the State Military Industrial Committee of Belarus told BelTA.
The expo’s solemn opening ceremony will take place at the historical and cultural complex Stalin’s Line on 15 May. Weapon systems will be put on display in Minsk Arena on 15-18 May. Minsk Arena will also host the main events of the business program and the official closing ceremony. A list of indoor and outdoor defense technology exhibits has already been compiled.
Individual companies belonging to the State Military Industrial Committee of Belarus will arrange standalone stands while enterprises in holding companies will put their products on collective stands. As many as 52 Belarusian organizations have confirmed they will participate in MILEX 2019. A list of roughly 300 exhibits, excluding mockups, has been compiled. Of them 240 exhibits will be showcased indoors while 65 vehicles will be shown outdoors. The number of products to be showcased for the first time ever will be close to 100.
As many as 35 companies from Azerbaijan, Germany, China, and Russia have confirmed they will participate in the expo. Companies from Serbia will participate in the expo for the first time. Capabilities of Collective Security Treaty Organization countries will be represented in a dedicated section.
Representatives of the national exhibition company BelExpo are in negotiations on setting up a national exposition of Kazakhstan and in negotiations with potential exhibitors from Italy and Czechia. Following the established tradition, this year’s MILEX will offer a venue for meetings of representatives of foreign high-level delegations, weapon experts and specialists, representatives of scientific circles, developers and designers. As many as 23 official delegations from 15 countries have confirmed their plans to participate in the expo.
Plans have been made for meetings and negotiations of the chairman of the State Military Industrial Committee of Belarus and the Belarusian defense minister with a number of heads of official foreign delegations. Upon invitations of heads of Belarusian defense industry companies delegations of the foreign defense companies the Belarusian companies intend to work with or already work with as part of R&D or manufacturing cooperation schemes will visit MILEX 2019.
About 40 mass media will act as MILEX 2019 information partners. Over 150 reporters representing about 70 Belarusian and foreign mass media are expected to cover events of the defense technology expo in Minsk.
