MINSK, 12 April (BelTA) – There are plans to publish Yanka Kupala’s literary works in Korean, Yelena Leshkovich, Director of the Yanka Kupala State Literary Museum, said at a presentation of the book of Yanka Kupala’s poem "And, Say, Who Goes There?" in 100 world's languages in Minsk on 12 April, BelTA has learned.

“We are going to continue the translation work. I know that there are new translations that have not been included in the book. Thanks to the ambassador of the Republic of Korea, there is an agreement to publish Yanka Kupala’s literary works in the Korean language,” noted Yelena Leshkovich. Yelena Leshkovich said that during an internship program in that country she met with a colleague from Bangladesh who promised to translate Kupala’s literary works into Bengali.

The translation of Kupala’s poems into Georgian and Italian is underway. “The more they know about Yanka Kupala, the more they will lean about Belarus,” Yelena Leshkovich pointed out.

The Director of the Petrus Brovka Belarusian Encyclopedia Publishing House Vladimir Andrievich said that the poem “And, Say, Who Goes There?” has been first translated into Ukrainian, and then into Lithuanian, Russian, Czech, Polish. Remarkably, the poem is available in minority languages.

Olga Davidovich, Head of the Literature, Art and Culturology Editorial Office of the Petrus Brovka Belarusian Encyclopedia Publishing House, stressed that the book is a unique edition. It includes the best translations (there are several variants in some languages). The edition is complemented with the illustrations made by renowned artists from Belarus and other countries, including from China.

The book of Yanka Kupala’s poem “And, Say, Who Goes There?” in 100 world's languages has been compiled by Doctor of Philology, Professor, Honorary Chairman of the Yanka Kupala International Foundation Vyacheslav Ragoisha and Director of the Yanka Kupala State Literary Museum Yelena Leshkovich. The book opens with the facsimile of this poem which is kept in the Yanka Kupala State Literary Museum.
