MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) – Plans have been made to build a multi-purpose center at the Ilya Repin Zdravnevo Museum Estate near Vitebsk using funds from the budget of the Belarus-Russia Union State, Belarusian Culture Minister Boris Svetlov told reporters on 27 July, BelTA has learned.
The minister said that a relevant agreement was reached during talks with Russian Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky and State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota on the sidelines of the 25th international arts festival Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk. Boris Svetlov did not reveal much detail about the project.
He added that it was also agreed that Vladimir Medinsky will visit Minsk to attend the International Film Festival Listapad to be held on 4 to 11 November. The opening and closing ceremonies will take place at the movie theater Moskva. Boris Svetlov noted that Vladimir Medinsky will take part in the festival not as a viewer, but as a member of the Russian delegation of moviemakers. They will pay a visit to the national cinema studio Belarusfilm. In December, Saint Petersburg will host a joint session of the culture ministries of the two countries. The meeting will discuss matters related to cinema art and the cooperation in film production.
In Vitebsk, Boris Svetlov and Vladimir Medinsky also discussed the possibility of holding a joint project to renovate an architectural site. They also talked about ways to solve problems faced by the Belarusian and Russian moviemaking industries.
