ISLAMABAD, 5 October (BelTA) – Direct flights between Minsk and Islamabad may become available by the middle of 2017, BelTA learned from Vladimir Kostin, Director of the Aviation Department of the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry.
The governments of Belarus and Pakistan signed an agreement on air service on 5 October. The document creates the legal base of regulating transportation by air between the two countries.
According to the source, the agreement will encourage the development of international transportation by air between Belarus and Pakistan, however, it is too early to talk about when the flights become available. Intrastate procedures have to be completed first. They take from six to nine months according to preliminary information. “Once we are notified that the procedures are completed, the agreement will come into force on the thirtieth day after it is signed,” he explained.
The official said the agreement will allow offering direct flights between Islamabad and Minsk. “Later on we intend to expand the route either to America or Canada,” remarked Vladimir Kostin.
The official added that if passenger numbers are sufficient, direct flights will become available between Minsk and Karachi.
