MINSK, 27 June (BelTA) – Metro stations named after Minsk and Belarus may appear in Vietnamese cities. The proposal to let Belarusian specialists design the relevant metro stations in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City was put forward by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko during expanded-participation negotiations with Vietnam President Tran Dai Quang on 27 June, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian head of state said: “Belarusian specialists from various companies of ours may be hired to participate in infrastructure projects for building metro and tunnels, for developing oil resources and mineral resources in Vietnam.”
Alexander Lukashenko remarked that a representative office of the Minsk metro design company Minskmetroproject had already been opened in Vietnam. “They are ready to accomplish projects of any difficulty. Why don’t we design the metro stations Minskaya in Hanoi and Belorusskaya in Ho Chi Minh City?” wondered the Belarus president.
Minskmetroproject has signed a memorandum of intent to cooperate with Vietnam’s leading design company Transport Engineering Design for the sake of designing metro in Vietnam, tunnels and underpasses with assistance of Belarusian specialists. Minskmetroproject has also signed a memorandum of intent with one of the largest Vietnamese civil engineering companies Lung Lo Construction Corporation. Minskmetroproject’s representative office was opened in Hanoi in February 2017. A decision is expected on the possibility of signing a contract with the Belarusian company on developing engineering documentation for building a subterranean section of the metro system in Hanoi.
