GRODNO, 24 June (BelTA) – A photo chronicle of the Festival of National Cultures in Grodno was presented in the regional center on 24 June. An exhibition of the most memorable, brightest and funny episodes of the festival was unveiled by BelTA’s leading photojournalist Leonid Shcheglov in the OldCity shopping center in Grodno, BelTA has learned.
The exhibition features 56 photos of the festival from 2002 to 2018. They have captured thousands of people. Residents and guests of the festival will easily be able to find themselves or their friends in the photos.
“For a photojournalist the Festival of National Cultures is, first of all, an infinite source of interesting subjects and topics. Especially since each of the festivals was unique in its own way. New nationalities, guests, national pavilions, locations, events have been captured in thousands of photos. Therefore, perhaps the most difficult task was to select the most memorable and most emotional ones for the exhibition,” Leonid Shcheglov noted.
The festival has become one of the signature events in Grodno. It was first held in 1996 and since then has been held every two years. In June 2020, Grodno was gearing up to host the 13th edition of the large-scale holiday but had to postpone till next year amid the pandemic.
“We decided to recreate the festival mood in the city, “ said the OldCity marketing specialist Sergei Ivanov. “With the help of photos we offer residents and visitors of the city to once again get the feel of the atmosphere of the festival that we love for national cuisines, songs and dances until the morning, national pavilions and culture of different nationalities,” he noted.
