MINSK, 6 January (BelTA) – The teams partaking in the 11th Christmas International Amateur Ice Hockey Tournament for the prize of the Belarusian President presented tickets for ice hockey games to the kids from the Istoki children’s village as part of the Christmas Tradition campaign, BelTA has learned.
The Presidential Sports Club and the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation have already transferred Br240 million to the institution. On 6 January the teams partaking in the Christmas tournament met with the children. Athletes from eight countries gave presents (household equipment, electronic devices, bicycles) to the families from the institution in the village of Kirpichny near Minsk and invited kids to attend the ice hockey games.
According to the Presidential Sports Club, the teams partaking in the competition often initiate meetings with children. After the tournament the ice hockey players keep in touch with the kids.
The Christmas Tradition campaign was launched two years ago. It was initiated by the Presidential Sports Club and the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation. During the 9th Christmas International Amateur Ice Hockey Tournament for the prize of the Belarusian President organizers and participants of the competition met with children left without parental care in Minsk and Minsk District.
The Istoki children’s village unites 23 families bringing up 154 children. The families live in separate houses in the villages of Borovlyany and Kirpichny.
