MINSK, 23 April (BelTA) – The Apostolic legate will come to Budslav Fest this year, spokesman for the Confederation of Catholic Bishops of Belarus priest Yuri Sanko told media on 23 April, BelTA has learned.
“The Papal legate will come to Belarus. It has been decided. We, however, do not know yet who is going to come,” the spokesman said.
The fest will take place on 1-2 July 2016. The visit of the legate will be timed not only to the celebrations in Budslav but also to mark the 25th anniversary of the restoration of the Minsk and Mogilev Archdiocese.
As was informed, Budslav Fest, a celebration of the Budslav Icon of the Mother of God, is vying for the inscription into the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The celebrations will draw a lot of Catholic believers, including from abroad. The Budslav Icon is one of the national relics.
