MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – Over Br9.1 million was earned during the national cleanup day held on 25 April, BelTA learned from the National Statistics Committee of Belarus.
As much as Br9,114,100 was transferred to the state budget during the cleanup day, 0.7% up from 2019.
BelTA reported earlier that the money earned during the national cleanup day (aka subbotnik) will be poured into important social projects. Half of the money will be left at the disposal of the oblast administrations and the Minsk city administration. The money will be channeled into preparing children’s camps for the summer, into beautifying populated localities, and cleaning up gravesites. The other half will be spent on construction work in the National Art Museum and on reconstructing a mass grave at the site of the burned-down village of Ola in Svetlogorsk District, Gomel Oblast.
About 2,273,000 people took part in the national cleanup day on 25 April.
