Over 6% of Belarusians get first dose of COVID-19 vaccine

MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) – The first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine has been given to 6.1% of Belarus’ population, BelTA informs citing the website of the National Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health, BelTA informs.

As of 3 June, the number of people in Belarus who got the first jab amounted to 560,000 (6.1% of the population), while 296,200 people (3.2%) received the second dose.

According to the COVID-19 national immunization plan for 2021-2022, vaccines are administered to healthcare workers, pharmacists, education employees, the staff of the facilities providing round-the-clock care and those who live there, as well as population groups who are most likely to develop severe forms of the disease. These are 60+ people and people with chronic diseases.

The vaccines that are used for the vaccination include Gam-COVID-Vac (a combined vector vaccine) and Vero Cell (inactivated vaccine known as SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine) made by Beijing Bio-Institute of Biological Products Co Ltd.
