MINSK, 4 September (BelTA) - More than 500 volunteers from Belarus and abroad have applied for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Belarusian BRSM Youth Union Alexandra Goncharova told BelTA.
"The applications closed on 25 August. We have received more than 500 applications from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Switzerland. As we expected the largest number came from Minsk State Linguistic University. It was followed by Belarusian State University, Belarusian State Economy University and Belarusian National Technical University. The interviews will be held in universities in Minsk on 4-6 September. We will also have online interviews with applicants from different regions and abroad, check out how much young people are motivated to participate in the project, assess the level of fluency in foreign languages, communication skills, stress resistance and how well they know Minsk," said Alexandra Goncharova.
According to her, not only students showed interest in the project but also working youth. "We have received 50 applications from working young people, 10 from minors though we clearly set the age range from 18 to 31. We will keep these guys in our database so they can participate in other projects. The overwhelming majority of volunteers are girls," Alexandra Goncharova noted.
The final list of 300 people will be made before 10 September and sent to the Belarusian Television and Radio Company (BTRC) for further selection. "All in all, 100 volunteers will be involved in the preparation of the contest, rehearsals. Others will help to seat the guests and control the order during the contest," added Alexandra Goncharova.
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 will be held in Belarus on 25 November. The coordinator of all events is the Belarusian Television and Radio Company (BTRC) that is the only member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
