MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) – A UNICEF charity dinner in Minsk has raised over $40,000, BelTA learned from the UNICEF Belarus website.
The money will be spent on UNICEF programs for children with disabilities.
The charity auction put up for sale a one-on-one training session with the Belarusian tennis player Darya Domracheva, two air tickets to any part of the world from Turkish Airlines, two VIP tickets to the concert and a personal meeting with the legendary British musician Sting, and multiple other valuable gifts from UNICEF friends and partners.
The Michelin star winning chef Marcello Spadone was in charge of cooking the dinner. The Belarusian pianist Rostislav Krimer and the East-West Chamber Orchestra presented a special music program to the guests.
UNICEF has worked in Belarus for over 20 years. UNICEF programs for kids with disabilities are designed to give them an opportunity to study alongside regular kids, to allow early detection of disabilities in children under 3, and to stomp out any stigmas against children with disabilities and their families.
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is the world’s largest organization to operate under the UN aegis to protect children’s rights in over 190 countries for more than 70 years. UNICEF is dedicated to allowing every kid to grow and have a happy life.
