MINSK, 16 August (BelTA) – Over 30 contenders seek to host the Junior Eurovision 2018 that will be held in Belarus. The audition was held at the office of the Belarusian TV and Radio Company on 16 August, BelTA has learned.
The youngest candidate is 10 years old; the oldest is 36. A text in English was recited in front of the jury by famous media personas and young talents who took part in the audition for the first time.
The requirements to the contenders were formulated by Chairman of the Belarusian TV and Radio Company Ivan Eismont. “Charisma, a good vibe and decent English are important. We looked for candidates all over the world. More than 100 applications were received, including several from the United States and Ukraine. However, just over 30 were invited to the audition. Among them are many people who are well-known in the media world; however, this does not give them any competitive edge. We invited show director Gordon Bonello to join the jury. He does not know what contenders are popular hosts and who are amateurs. The decision will be made collectively, but he should voice his views,” Ivan Eismont said.
There is no decision yet as to how many hosts, of what age and in what combination will take to the stage of the international junior song contest. The organizers are waiting for more applications from potential candidates.
Among the candidates are Belarusian participants at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest of various years, namely Ksenia Sitnik (2005), Nadezhda Misyakova (2014), Ruslan Aslanov (2015) and Helena Meraai (2017). TV hosts Evgeny Perlin, Dmitry Kokhno and Yelena Tishkevich are also among the contenders.
The final decision will be made in several weeks.
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 will be held in Minsk on 25 November.
