ALEXANDRIA, 27 June (BelTA) - More than 30 diplomats accredited in Belarus are planning to attend the Kupala Night Festival in Alexandria (Alexandria Gathers Friends) due in the agro-town of Alexandria, Shklov District, on the bank of the Dnieper River on 7-8 Jule, the head of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Ulakhovich said at a visiting session of the national organizing committee, BelTA has learned
This is the first time that the festival will welcome so many representatives of the diplomatic corps. Some 34 guests have already confirmed their participation: among them are the ambassadors of Russia, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Germany, Kazakhstan, China, UAE, Georgia.
“While drawing up the programs we took into account all wishes of diplomats. Thus, in the morning of 7 July they will visit BelAZ plant, one of the country’s major exporters and then go to Alexandria where they will get acquainted with local attractions and visit the school where Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko went to. Then the diplomats are expected to meet with representatives of the government and give a briefing for the media,” said Vladimir Ulakhovich.
The diplomats will be taken on a tour around the Kupala Night Festival venues and thematic zones, and attend a concert headlined as Native Land on the main venue of the festival.
The Kupala Night Festival debuted in 2010. The idea to hold this festival in Alexandria was upheld by the head of state. The festivities will unfold in a picturesque place on the bank of the Dnieper River, near the bridge that connects not only two settlements – Alexandria and Kopys, but also two oblasts – Mogilev Oblast and Vitebsk Oblast.
