MINSK, 4 July (BelTA) – A total of 517 mass events were held on in Belarus’ Independence Day on 3 July which were attended by more than 1 million people, reads a statement posted on the website of the Interior Ministry of Belarus, BelTA has learned.
The largest events were held in Minsk. The parade and the gala concert were attended by more than 350,000 people.
Security in the country was heightened to ensure adequate protection of public order.
“The situation during the festivities across the country was calm and under control. No violations of public order or emergency situations were registered,” said Dmitry Kuryan, head of the police department of the Interior Ministry.
