MINSK, 13 March (BelTA) – Registration has opened for the 2024 Minsk Half Marathon which is due to take place in the Belarusian capital on 8 September, BelTA has learned.
This year the organizers of Belarus’ largest running event expect about 20,000 participants. Athletes will undergo a selection process to compete in the main race of 21.097km. Qualifying times for men are up to an hour and 15 minutes, for women - up to an hour and 20 minutes. Results shown after 1 January 2022 will be taken into account. Applications for the main race will be accepted until 8 August.
The event will also feature 10.5km, 5km, corporate relay, and 1.5km family races. A relay format will be introduced for the first time. This format envisages a team of four runners, three of whom will cover 5km, and one more will cover 6.097 km. Each team must include at least one woman. Registration is open on the website of the Running League of the Belarusian Athletics Federation.
The Minsk Half Marathon has been held since 2013 and every edition attracts thousands of health and fitness enthusiasts. More than 15,000 people run at the 2023 Minsk Half Marathon. Participating in the event apart from Belarusians were runners from the USA, Switzerland, Austria, Lithuania, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Türkiye, Russia, and other countries.
