Orsha was liberated from the Nazi invaders on 27 June 1944 during the Belarusian offensive operation Bagration, one of the largest military operations of the Great Patriotic War.
Operation Bagration was the codename for the 1944 Soviet Byelorussian strategic offensive operation, a military campaign fought between 23 June and 29 July 1944 which was unmatched in terms of coverage and operational-strategic results. Its goal was to defeat the Army Group Center and the liberation of Belarus. And this goal was fully achieved. Our troops reached the state border of the USSR. Ahead was the liberation of all Europe.
