MINSK, 1 August (BelTA) – Belarusian rower Yauheni Zalaty has progressed into the men’s single sculls final at the ongoing 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian won the preliminary and quarterfinal heats. On 1 August Yauheni Zalaty competed in Semifinal 2 against the athletes from Greece, Croatia, Germany, Denmark and Romania. The Belarusian finished second in 6:39.01, behind Germany’s Oliver Zeidler. Third was Stefanos Ntouslos of Greece.
Earlier, Belarusian rower Tatsiana Klimovich finished fifth in the women’s single sculls semifinal. On 3 August Tatsiana Klimovich will be in action in the women’s single sculls final B to decide the 7th-12th places. Yauheni Zalaty will compete in the final on 3 August as well.
