Olympics 2024: Belarus’ Klimovich into single sculls quarterfinal

MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) – Belarusian rower Tatsiana Klimovich reached the women’s single sculls quarterfinal at the ongoing 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, BelTA has learned.

The event featured 32 athletes. Tatsiana Klimovich competed in the fourth preliminary heat against the rowers from Peru, Lithuania, Brazil and Türkiye. The three best performers advanced to the next round. Viktorija Senkute of Lithuania won the heat, with Tatsiana Klimovich finishing four seconds behind the winner.

The women’s quarterfinal at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium is due to take place on 30 July. A total of 18 athletes advanced to the second round of the competitions, with six more berths up for grabs in tomorrow’s repechage round. Earlier today, Belarus’ Yauheni Zalaty made it to the men’s single sculls quarterfinal.

On Saturday Belarus’ Ilya Shymanovich will compete for a spot in the men’s 100m breaststroke final, while Hanna Tserakh will vie for medals in the women’s individual time trial. The 2024 Summer Olympic Games will be running through 11 August. Belarus’ delegation in the capital of France features 17 athletes competing in ten sports.
