MINSK, 11 August (BelTA) – Belarusian bantamweight boxer Dmitry Asanov has reached the round of last 16 of the Olympic boxing competition, BelTA has learned.

In the opener Dmitry Asanov celebrated a points victory over Hector Garcia Mora of the Dominican Republic 2-1.

The Belarusian will next face Tsendbaatar Erdenebat of Mongolia on 14 August.

Mikhail Dolgolevets of Belarus (81kg) had also a good start in Rio defeating Italy’s Valentino Manfredonia. The Belarusian will go against 2012 London silver medalist Adilbek Niyazymbetov of Kazakhstan on 12 August.

In the featherweight division Belarusian boxer Pavel Kostromin was knocked out of the Olympics following a close-battle defeat to Thailand’s Saylom Ardee.
