MINSK, 30 May (BelTA) – Over 20,000 foreign nationals have already visited Belarus visa-free, Aleksei Begun, the head of the Citizenship and Migration Department at the Interior Ministry of Belarus, said in an interview with the online TV service SB.BY, BelTA has learned.
Aleksei Begun noted that the statistics related to the five-day visa-free travel in Belarus is monitored real-time. “Since 12 February, more than 20,000 foreign nationals have taken advantage of the visa-free travel opportunity. They come for different short-term purposes such as business and tourism,” he specified.
Aleksei Begun also commented on the possibility of foreigners crossing the Belarus-Russia border. “We are working with our Russian colleagues almost in an online mode. We send them lists of violators who leave for the Russian Federation. We maintain constructive cooperation. These matters will be discussed at a joint meeting. We will try to work out mutually acceptable control systems,”Aleksei Begun said.
