MINSK, 5 November (BelTA) - The number of Turkish visitors to Belarus is expected to double in 2015 thanks to the visa-free regime, spokesman for the Belarusian Minsitry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told a press briefing, BelTA has learned.
The abolishment of visa requirements for short trips by Belarus and Turkey in 2014 has had a positive impact on the flow of tourists. "Over 22,000 citizens of Turkey visited Belarus in 2014. In 2015, we expect the number of visitors at 40,000,” said Dmitry Mironchik. The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed hope that the number of visa-free travels will continue increasing.
The results of the visa-free regime will be discussed during the Belarus-Turkey ministerial consultations on consular matters on 5 November, Dmitry Mironchik added. The parties will exchange information on the consular services of the two countries, the legal status of Belarusian and Turkish citizens on the territory of the states parties. The parties will also consider the prospects for developing the legal framework in the consular field and the issues of practical use of the mechanism for mutual legal assistance in civil, family and criminal matters.
