MINSK, 15 July (BelTA) - Maksim Nedasekau of Belarus won the gold medal at the European Under-23 Championships in Gavle, Sweden, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian cleared 2.29m in the high jump to win the champion’s title. Tom Gale of the United Kingdom settled for silver with a 2.27m clearance. Polish Norbert Kobelski was third with 2.23 m.
“At some point I was certain that I was second. When the judges ordered the British to repeat the jump I decided not to miss the last chance and gave it all,” the Belarusian said.
This season Maksim Nedasekau won the high jump competition at the 2nd European Games in Minsk with 2.27m.
