Musicians from nine countries to take part in Bard Music and Fishing Festival in Belarus

MOGILEV, 14 June (BelTA) – Bards and musicians from nine countries will take part in the 7th International Bard Music and Fishing Festival, BelTA learned from the organizing committee of the event.

“This is the first time that we will have participants and guests from so many countries. The popularity of the festival is growing. This is an outdoor informal place for dialogue between people of different cultures using the language of music and songs,” the organizing committee said. “Guests will participate in three new projects such as Different Format (a conversation about smart songs), Neighbors (the songs are performed in native languages of the musicians), and Vysotsky’s Land (international theatrical project featuring Vladimir Vysotsky’s songs translated into the Belarusian, Polish, German, Ukrainian, and Czech languages).”

Among the famous bards and musicians who have confirmed their participation in the festival are: the legendary bard duo Sergei and Tatiana Nikitiny (Russia), well-known German musician Tino Eisbrenner, director, script writer, and producer Jiri Vondrak (Czech Republic), actor, poet and singer Sergei Dzhigurda (Ukraine), a member of the Russian Union of Writers, winner of the Grushinsky Festival and Petersburg Akkord Festival Pavel Fakhrtdinov and others.

The festival will feature many events combining recreation and art, including the contest of author’s song Guitar Round, fishing competitions, excursions to the Island of Love, beach volleyball tournament, Belarus’ open championship in fish soup cooking, fish dishes contests, Miss Bard Music and Fishing Festival and sauna sessions.

The night-long concert program will include a live retro disco by Lyudmila Tatarova-Dzhigurda (Ukraine), a jazz concert featuring pianist, jazz organist and arranger Konstantin Goryachy (Belarus), solo performances of poet-chansonnier Psoy Korolenko (Russia) and musician Ian Bederman (Israel).

The International Bard Music and Fishing Festival was first held in 2010. Despite being relatively young, the festival has already turned into a bright and offbeat cultural event in Mogilev Oblast, well-known in Belarus and outside its borders. Annually the festival gathers more than 3,000 guests and participants from various countries. The festival is organized by the Your Environment association, the Bykhov District Executive Committee, the main department for ideology, culture and young affairs of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee, the Public Council for Agro-Ecotourism Development in Mogilev Oblast.

OAO Mogotex is the general partner of the project. BelTA News Agency is the general information partner.
