BREST, 10 May (BelTA) – The 2nd International Arts Festival Motley Tulip that will run in Brest on 23-24 May will gather musicians from 4 countries, the festival’s art director Valentina Maltseva said at a press conference on 10 May, BelTA has learned.
The event will consist of two concerts. Belarusian, Russian, Polish, and Georgian musicians will perform the world’s musical masterpieces from classics to new jazz, and also less known things. “The festival has expanded this year. It will gather 14 performers and teams. Artists come to Brest with pleasure. Last year they remarked they liked the warm atmosphere of the concerts and the city. The event was well-received by Brest citizens as well. They commended the high skill level of the participants,” Valentina Maltseva noted.
Partaking in the festival will be People's Artist of Belarus Igor Olovnikov (piano), pianist Marina Kulov, soloist of the Presidential Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus Tatyana Kormazinova, and the Symphony Orchestra of the Brest Academic Drama Theater. They will be accompanied by foreign artists: the festival will feature performances by the musicians of the Mariinsky Theater, violin player Aleksei Lukirsky, young trumpet player Aleksei Ivanov, tenor Alexander Trofimov, soloist of the Saint Petersburg Theater of Musical Comedy Katarzyna Mackiewicz, Polish jazz trio Nowicki Swies Frankiewicz, and Georgian piano duo of the Meyrabova sisters, Regina and Kristina.
This is the second edition of the festival. According to Deputy Director of the Brest Theater Larisa Novitskaya, the creative team has laid a strong basis for the festival. Today top priority is to make ticket prices affordable and popularize the Motley Tulip festival. When the event becomes more visible, the organizers will be able to invite more popular musicians and performers.
The initiative to organize the festival was launched by a private company in cooperation with the Brest Academic Drama Theater. “Our initiative is aimed at increasing the number of cultural events in Brest. There is a link between culture and business. Business thrives in a popular city. I hope that next year Brest businessmen will help us hold the festival,” the forum’s director Vladimir Kulov said.
The third edition of the festival is expected to be dedicated to the art of the 21st century. The organizers plan to invite national and foreign musicians as well as theater teams and artists.
